In all seriousness, I wish I could talk to the guy personally. I would love nothing more than to help people like this realize their true potential.
I know I say it everytime on a new track, but I'm so happy with how this track is coming along. I've achieved a sound in my music that I actually consider decent by the standards I set for myself. I never thought I would get this far with my musical ability, but I have. And it feels just amazing.
Never give up hope. You're not above or below anyone. We're all destined for better things. Some find it, others don't. Be one of the seekers.
I'm treating this music stuff as if it were a second job. Except I'm you know...not making any money off it. I need money after all for my daily amount of caffeine consumption.
COFFEE = COOL COMPOSITIONS!!!
I've done my research on this.
...I also haven't slept alot.
So, I've been meaning to make this for awhile. I don't want to spam the forums with something like this, but I want people to know where I started and to let them know that if I could get to where I am, you can too. I will also give a few tips maybe.
1993 - 2006: I had a pretty good and quiet childhood. I didn't really have any friends in terms of outside the family, but I have a ton of siblings, so we were all kinda friends when we weren't pissing each other off. I played video games ALOT. The first game I can ever remember playing was G-Nome by 7th Level. Which had a killer soundtrack in my book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i352EcsT5Vg&list=PLCC2B142A186B59C9 My favorite console to this day is the PS1 for the experimental things they were willing to try. I played a ton of demo disks and a few full games. (Most of the full games sucked except for MGS1 and Spiderman) I never really had thought of making music in this time frame since I assumed that it took stuff like instruments, studios, recording booths, and mixing boards. Stuff that was way too expensive for a kid growing up in a family from the low to middle class range. Our financial stabilty kinda varied, but my dad worked harder than ever to keep us all afloat. I still have a ton of respect for him in terms of how hard he worked. Even though I never really thought of making music, I still had a great admiration for video game music. It was my favorite genre besides 80s music. I would spend hours cycling through the music of DKC2 for the GBA with the "Onetime" cheat code.
2007: I discovered NG. I still consider this website my favorite in terms of community disregarding the dumbasses who think everything they post is comedic gold. Anyway, I played a ton of flash games and came across this one game with music from Waterflame, Cornandbeans, ParagonX9, and all them guys. I think it was Flash Hero. I then found out that most of these guys used Fl Studio for their uploads. I was shocked to find out that there was a program that could make music as good as there's and could be used right in your PC.
2009: I posted my first and only song on NG under the alias "AutopilotX17 aka ParagonX9 wannabe lol" Not only was the song posted under the wrong genre, but it was horribly mixed and just sounded plain awful. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/270059 I'm not sure what happened to this profile. I think I deleted my yahoo account associated with it or something.
2010 - 2011: I started posting crap to Youtube for awhile under the alias "PrototypeX" (What is it with me and Xs? Might as well have called myself XLoneWolfGhostSniperX1337.) It was because I liked Protoman though. https://www.youtube.com/user/PrototypeX17/videos I was still shit, but progress could be heard. I used Mario Paint Composer alot in this time frame since it was hard to make music in the Fl Studio demo without worrying about power outages or one of my siblings unplugging my PC "by accident". Luckily I had all my projects saved...I just couldn't ever work on them again until I got the full version of Fl Studio.
2012: This year was a quiet one for me. I was ashamed at how bad my music was that I used this year to better myself musically.
2013 - 2016: Here's where I am now. I posted my first song Chaotic Calm on this profile. From then on progress was being made a lot quicker since I spent my time on nothing but music when I wasn't working. There was even points in time when I wasn't uploading because of demotivation or I was experimenting/practicing a ton. There are points in time when I wish I could go back to my past-self and slap him into motivation, but in the end the mistakes that were made were a good learning experience. I never thought in my lifetime that music/sound would be the thing that I was meant to do. Some people are just late-bloomers, I guess.
Let me tell you something about passion. If you have something that you want to do. Just do it. If you didn't grow up around it, you're probably going to suck. You will have to use your mistakes as a way to learn and figure out how to turn a negative into a positive.
We are all prodigies. We just have to realize our potential, then make it our purpose.
A behind the scenes look at how I make music in Fl Studio.
My friend, Daru925 got done telling me that groups got removed. This honestly has to be the dumbest thing that they have done. You'd think after Soundcloud Go that they couldn't get any dumber, but I guess not. Notice how everything with the word "go" sucks now? (Yeah, I went there.)
Anyway, there is no feel for community anymore on Soundcloud and the "Stations" feature is just flatout, stupid since it's just a recommended list based upon the current song you use to reference. So with that said, I'm not going to be uploading there anymore. 3/4 of the likes are stupid-ass bots anyway.
I've already addressed this before and how happy I am that I have more people to share my gift with. I was going to make my "Welcome" track my 100 fans thing, but it's way too short to qualify. I plan on making something more special. In the meantime, I suppose a photo of myself will have to do for now.
Sorry, everyone about the being figuratively dead thing. Just going through some emo shit and identity issues. No cutting though. That's so last year. Hopefully I'll stop being a useless piece of garbage and upload some content soon.
I've been creating music privately, but I'm having trouble thinking of a place to upload it at the moment. Soundcloud has problems with it's terms of usage apparentely, Youtube downgrades the quality of the audio file, and I'm even reluctant to upload my music here cause of Geometry Dash. Newgrounds definitely makes me the saddest of all of these since this used to feel like a place I could upload my music for the enjoyment of others and good feedback. Now it's just become a dump for GD users. I hate to say it, but it's how I feel.
So, I just got done beating the game Undertale in several days. I went in expecting an experience similar to the FNAF games, but...I was freaking blown away. The effort and emotion put into it gave me an experience I haven't experienced awhile in gaming. Go and play it now. This statement is coming from a guy who is extremely picky about games: Trust me. It is worth it.
